Charles River Laboratories Vigil #17

Upcoming Vigil Schedule:

Sunday, May 6
Saturday, May 19 (please join us after the vigil for a potluck/bbq at our house - details will be on the event page)
Sunday, May 27

We hope you'll come out and join us to hold vigil for all of the animals this evil company profits off of. They make money off of the pain and torture of innocent animals. These animals are truly the most silent victims. We are bringing awareness to the community - we are bringing the truth of what they do into the light.

Charles River Laboratories (CRL) is the world’s largest breeder of animals for use in experiments. Half of all animals used in lab experiments are supplied by CRL.

They also conduct painful tests on animals for companies that produce industrial chemicals, pesticides, food additives, and pharmaceuticals. In these tests, the animals are force-fed test compounds, have experimental chemicals sm...eared onto their shaved skin, and are forced to inhale toxic substances. The animals may endure severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, convulsions, seizures, paralysis, and bleeding from the nose, mouth, and genitals before they ultimately die or are killed.

CRL is the second-largest importer of nonhuman primates into the U.S., bringing in thousands of monkeys who have been stolen from their homes in the wild or bred on decrepit monkey factory farms.

We will have a banner and signs - all you need to bring is yourself.

You can park along the side of the road (be careful getting in and out of your car) or if you want to meet somewhere and carpool there, we can arrange that as well.

Hope to see you there!

Joint Vigil! NYFAS & Brooklyn-Queens Animal Save at La Granja Live Poultry

We're going back to La Granja in Harlem and we're teaming up with Brooklyn-Queens Animal Save and Chilis on Wheels!

Please join us! The outreach in this neighborhood is really good - we always have several excellent conversations.

Reminders: This is a peaceful vigil. We believe in empathy and compassion for all living beings, including people who are not yet vegan and those who work in the live market. We are there to plant seeds and nurture the seeds we've already sown.

If we are confronted by an antagonist, remember it is best to just ignore them and walk away. Things can escalate quickly and that is something we do not want. That is not why we are there.

We have posters and brochures, you... only need to bring yourself.

Awareness is the beginning of change. What we do is plant the seeds of awareness which will bring about change.

A video on why bearing witness is important.

“Auschwitz begins wherever someone looks at a slaughterhouse and thinks: they’re only animals.” – Theodor W. Adorno

“When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to him who suffers, and try to help.” – Leo Tolstoy, A Calendar of Wisdom

“For the dead and the living, we must bear witness.”
– Elie Wiesel, Holocaust Survivor, Nobel Peace Laureate, Boston University Professor
